About Me

My story, and that of my two friends and fellow whistleblowers, is extremely unusual in the outcomes so far - we have been completely successful in one very major area, exposing data corruption and malpractice.  The other area of bullying and harrassment is an ongoing saga in which we may yet achieve the results we are after.

This is the story of a few civilians who “blew the whistle” on the lies and corruption rampant in the Department of Defence’s Defence Security Authority (DSA), Intelligence Security section at Victoria Barracks, Brisbane.

From March 2010 investigations came and went, avoiding the real issues.  Finally in May 2011 following our appearance on National television, via Lateline, the Prime Minister was asked to commission an investigation.  That  investigation was conducted by Dr Vivienne Thom, Inspector General of Intelligence and Security (IGIS).  This resulted in a scathing 64 page report which supported our allegations and put forward 13 Recommendations, the first of which  that the Defence Secretary write to us acknowledging that our allegations in respect to data entry were true.

Our story is exceptional in that we have been honoured in parliament by Senator David Johnston, Shadow Minister for Defence.  In a speech to the Senate on 9 Feb 2012 he stated:

“…We owe them [these whistleblowers] a debt of gratitude.  The parliament owes these three brave people a great debt of gratitude for coming forward…”

“I seriously cannot believe that this is not front-page news on most newspapers. There are 5,000 top secret security vets that have been compromised…..we are two or three or four years away from resolving what has gone on here ….It beggars belief ….”

This result didn’t of course happen overnight.  It’s been a long and arduous journey over 2 years and we were constantly on the ball making it happen.  I have had others to share the fight with, but many of you are lone voices in your workplace.

The section on this website titled ‘What we have learned’ is SO true in my experience!  There is no exaggeration whatsoever in the statements made therein.  What a sad indictment against our political system, against APS management in this country! However what we have found is that if you keep hanging in there you CAN get results.

Be encouraged and keep plugging on. It is only Truth that can count!  The lies will eventually be shown for what they are.

There is a summary of part of my story under the above section 'Victoria Barracks'.  I hope to add more to this story in the next month or so.

Rough news about your job. It doesn't say much for our society when the workers wanting to only do the right thing are the ones that are pushed out of their jobs. The truly honest worker is the most valuable worker and these people they squeeze out?
You've been doing the right thing and that is the only way to live with ones self.
Some lawyers just don't want to know about it. Have you tried Maurice Blackburn? It needs to be a case of "no win then no payment."
I hope something good turns up for you Louise.

Hi janice.
how is it all going with you.
As you no, I lost my position, still feel so frustrated, and angry.
All for the sake of standing up to bullying and harrassment.
legal fights, cost money, and no lawyer wants to take on this workplace.
